How this was made
Each tradition is set out in 108 concepts, each one a single clear sentence with a longer passage underneath for anyone who wants it. The number is not arbitrary: 108 is a count that recurs across many of these traditions, and it is long enough to hold a whole body of thought.
From the sources
Under each concept you will find the book it comes from, and the chapter and verse where the source records one — Meditations 7.9, Tao Te Ching ch. 8, Bhagavad Gita 2.47. Where a tradition is oral rather than written, or where the concept is a practice rather than a passage, we say that instead of inventing a citation. Nothing is cited more precisely than its source allows.
The paintings are AI, and twenty-five were withdrawn
Every painting on this site was made with AI — one for each concept, in the visual language of that tradition. They are not photographs, not historical artefacts, and not the work of a human painter. We say so here rather than let anyone wonder, and the same label is attached wherever we post them.
Twenty-five paintings have been withdrawn. Two reviewers agreed they would offend believers of the traditions they depicted — figures that read as the Prophet, a founder painted in the manner of Christ, a face given to God, and sacred Indigenous imagery that is not ours to render. Those concepts still have their words.
Who this is
Divine Studio, a small independent studio. We are not a religious organisation, we are not affiliated with any tradition here, and we are not asking anyone to believe anything. The aim is narrower: to let a person read what a tradition actually holds, in its own terms, without first having to join it.
There will be mistakes
A tradition set out in 108 concepts is a compression, and compression loses things. If you know one of these traditions from the inside and we have got something wrong — a citation, a translation, a picture — we want to hear it.
