Visualization Meditation
Using mental imagery to transform consciousness, heal trauma, and manifest positive states.
While Zen typically emphasizes formless meditation, visualization practices from Tibetan Buddhism have been integrated into some schools. Practitioners might visualize healing light, protective deities, or the dissolution of the body into space. Neuroscience shows that the brain doesn't distinguish strongly between imagined and actual experience - visualization activates the same neural networks as direct perception. Athletes use visualization to improve performance; meditators use it to transform consciousness. The mind we create in meditation is the mind we inhabit in life.
