Dance as Prayer
Ceremonial dance that embodies ancestral beings and their actions.
Aboriginal dance is not performance but embodiment. Dancers become the ancestral beings they represent, their movements recreating the actions of the Dreaming. Through dance, the eternal enters the temporal, renewing the world.
When we dance, we do not pretend to be the ancestors. We become them.
Ceremonial dance represents spiritual practice rather than mere artistic expression.
