Bahá'í Faith

Spiritual Nature of Humanity

Human beings are essentially spiritual rather than material; fulfillment comes through developing spiritual qualities rather than material acquisition.

The Bahá'í writings teach that human beings are created noble, possessed of spiritual capacities that set them apart from the animal kingdom. The purpose of life is to develop these spiritual qualities — love, justice, wisdom, generosity — not to accumulate material wealth. Material prosperity is welcome but as a means, not an end.

Noble have I created thee, yet thou hast abased thyself. Rise then unto that for which thou wast created.
