Patience and Endurance
Patience in adversity is a divine quality; endurance through difficulty purifies and strengthens the spiritual character.
The Bahá'í writings repeatedly counsel patience in the face of difficulty, injustice, and opposition. Patience is not passive waiting but active trust in God's wisdom and timing. The trials that test patience are also the opportunities that develop it — each difficulty patiently endured expands the soul's capacity.
Be patient in all things, as I have been patient.
Bahá'í patience teaching is grounded in the example of Bahá'u'lláh's own decades of exile and imprisonment, giving it extraordinary authority.

Patience in adversity is called a divine quality. The instruction is to be patient as Bahá'u'lláh was patient, which locates the standard in a person rather than in a rule.
