Excellence in Work
Whatever one does, it should be done with the highest standard of excellence as an expression of spiritual integrity.
Bahá'u'lláh's injunction that work performed in the spirit of service is worship implies that work should be done excellently. Mediocre work performed 'for God' is not acceptable — spiritual service requires the highest standard of craftsmanship, professionalism, and care. Excellence in all domains is a spiritual obligation.
It is incumbent upon every man of insight and understanding to strive to translate that which hath been written into reality and action.
The Bahá'í work ethic has affinities with Weber's Protestant ethic but grounds excellence in universal spiritual principles rather than theological doctrine.
