The Rights of Children
Children have rights to education, love, proper spiritual upbringing, and protection from abuse; parents bear sacred obligations to them.
The Bahá'í writings place heavy obligations on parents and communities for the wellbeing of children. Children have rights to education, loving care, spiritual formation, and protection from harm. These are not merely social goods but sacred obligations — children are entrusted by God to parents and communities for nurture and education.
Let the mothers consider that whatever concerneth the education of children is of the first importance.
Bahá'í children's rights teaching is distinctive in grounding children's education and care in explicit spiritual obligation rather than merely social convention.
