Bahá'í Faith

The Interconnection of All People

Every person's wellbeing is connected to every other's; poverty, injustice, and conflict anywhere affect everyone everywhere.

The Bahá'í writings teach that humanity is an organic whole — what affects one part affects all. Poverty in one part of the world undermines security everywhere; injustice in one nation threatens justice everywhere; spiritual impoverishment in one community weakens the whole. This organic interconnection grounds universal responsibility.

The well-being of mankind, its peace and security, are unattainable unless and until its unity is firmly established.

Bahá'u'lláh, Gleanings from the Writings of Bahá'u'lláh

  • What the Bahá'í Faith says about community

Everyone's wellbeing is held to depend on everyone else's, so injustice elsewhere is a local problem too. Peace and security are said to be out of reach until unity is established.
