Bahá'í Faith

The Significance of the Báb

The Báb — Forerunner of Bahá'u'lláh — represents a complete divine Manifestation who inaugurated a new spiritual era.

The Báb (Gate) was the forerunner and herald of Bahá'u'lláh, claiming the station of an independent Manifestation of God in 1844. His brief mission (1844-1850) inaugurated the Bahá'í era and laid the spiritual foundation for Bahá'u'lláh's revelation. He was publicly executed in 1850; his remains now rest in the golden-domed Shrine on Mount Carmel.

I am the Primal Point from which have been generated all created things.
