Dhyana Yoga - The Path of Meditation
Through stilling the mind in meditation, one realizes the Self directly.
Dhyana Yoga is the path of meditation. By systematically training attention and stilling mental fluctuations, the yogi experiences the Self directly. This practice includes posture, breath control, sense withdrawal, concentration, and meditation proper. Thousands of studies now confirm meditation's benefits: reduced stress, enhanced focus, emotional regulation, and even changes in brain structure. What sages knew intuitively, science now validates.
When the perfectly controlled mind rests in the Self only, free from longing for all objects of desires, then one is said to be united (in yoga).
Patanjali's Yoga Sutras elaborate this path in detail—the Gita provides the philosophical foundation that Patanjali systematizes into practice.
