The Lord in the Heart
The Lord dwells in the hearts of all beings, directing their wanderings through His power.
The Divine is not only transcendent but immanent—dwelling in the heart of every being as the inner controller and witness. This indwelling presence guides from within, available to all who turn inward. Recognizing this inner guide transforms our sense of isolation into intimacy with the Divine. Many contemplative traditions across cultures speak of this inner presence—the still, small voice or inner light.
The Supreme Lord is situated in everyone's heart, O Arjuna, and is directing the wanderings of all living entities, who are seated as on a machine, made of the material energy.
The Upanishads call this indwelling presence the Antaryamin—the inner controller who witnesses all our thoughts and guides us toward truth.
