Bhagavad Gita

The Dispelling of Illusion

Have your illusion and ignorance been dispelled by hearing My words?

Krishna asks whether his teaching has accomplished its purpose—dispelling Arjuna's confusion. This framing reminds us that the Gita's goal is practical transformation, not merely intellectual understanding. The test of spiritual teaching is whether it removes delusion and brings clarity. True knowledge is not addition of information but subtraction of ignorance.

O Arjuna, have you heard this with an attentive mind? Have your ignorance and delusion been dispelled?

Lord Krishna, Bhagavad Gita 18.72

This question invites self-examination—has the teaching penetrated? Has transformation occurred? Knowledge must become wisdom through integration.
