Kinship - The Web of Belonging
One's identity is found in relationship to family, clan, and community.
In Celtic society, identity came from kinship. One was son of father, of grandfather, of tribe. Genealogies were memorized for generations. This web of kinship provided rights, obligations, and meaning. The lone individual was pitiable; the connected person was whole.
