Be Transformed by Renewing Your Mind

Spiritual transformation begins with changing thought patterns through God's truth.

Paul urges, 'Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.' The Greek word for 'transformed' (metamorphoo) describes radical change—caterpillar to butterfly. This transformation comes through renewed thinking—replacing worldly thought patterns with God's perspective. We are shaped by what we think; wrong thinking produces wrong living. Scripture meditation, truth saturation, and taking thoughts captive renew the mind. Romans 12:1-2 puts the body first — present it as a sacrifice, and then the mind is renewed. Practice precedes new thinking.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Paul the Apostle, Romans 12:2

Dallas Willard taught that 'transformation is not merely a matter of trying to do what Christ said; it's becoming the kind of person who naturally does what he said.'
