How the universe came into being according to Hermetic teaching.
Poimandres reveals a creation through stages: from infinite Light emerge Darkness and watery chaos, then through the Word the cosmos takes form. The divine Mind brings order to chaos through logos.
Out of the Light there came a Holy Word, and nature received the Word and was ordered accordingly.
This cosmogony shares elements with both Greek philosophy and Genesis.
