Accepting Only What is Needed
Taking more than one genuinely needs is a form of stealing from others.
Even when freely offered, taking more than needed deprives others. Monks take only what is necessary for survival. Laypeople practice moderation, taking only what they genuinely need.
Take only what you need; leave the rest for others.
This connects asteya with aparigraha (non-possessiveness).
