Jainism

The Siddha State

The liberated soul (siddha) exists in perfect, eternal, unchanging bliss.

Siddhas have eliminated all karma and exist at the apex of the universe in pure consciousness. They possess infinite knowledge, perception, bliss, and energy, unchanging for eternity.

The siddha knows all, sees all, and is pure bliss forever.

Jain Teaching, Siddha Doctrine

The siddha state is the goal of all Jain practice.

  • What Jainism says about illness and the body failing

The endpoint is a soul with no body at all — a siddha at the apex of the universe, in infinite knowledge and unchanging bliss. Whatever comfort Jainism can give a dying person rests entirely on this: the body's failure is the last thing that has to be shed.
