Death as Transformation
Death is not ending but transformation and passage to another realm.
Death is not extinction but transformation. The soul continues, moving to Xibalba or the sky depending on how death occurred. Ancestors remain active, influencing and supporting the living. Death is a door, not a wall.
The corn god dies in the harvest and rises in the planting; so do we.
Death-as-transformation shows Mayan belief in soul continuity.

- What the Maya tradition says about grief
Death is described as a door, not a wall, with the soul going to Xibalba or to the sky depending on how the death occurred. Note what that means: destination turns on the manner of dying, not on how well the person lived.
