Narada Bhakti Sutras

Whoever Believes This Becomes a Lover of God

Narada closes by promising that whoever trusts and follows these teachings on love will themselves become a true lover of God and attain the supreme goal.

Narada concludes his aphorisms with a blessing and a promise: whoever has faith in this teaching on devotion, and lovingly puts it into practice, becomes a beloved of God and attains the highest goal — the perfection of love itself (Narada Bhakti Sutra 84). The treatise ends not with abstract doctrine but with an invitation extended to every listener, however humble. The whole path, from the first definition of love to its final fruit, is offered as an open door. To trust the teaching and to begin to love is already to step onto the road that ends in union. So the eighty-four sutras, here unfolded into a fuller meditation, close where they began — in love, by love, for the sake of love alone. May whoever takes these words to heart be drawn, gently and surely, into the boundless love of the Divine.

Whoever believes in this teaching of Narada, full of faith and love, becomes dear to God and attains the goal.

Narada, Narada Bhakti Sutras, Sutra 84

Closing with a promise to all who believe and practice, Narada follows a pattern common to sacred texts, which often end by pronouncing the fruit of faithful reception upon the reader, drawing them from study into living participation.
