Omamori - Sacred Amulets
Protective charms obtained at shrines to bring blessings and ward off misfortune.
Omamori are amulets containing prayers inscribed by priests, carried for protection and blessing. Different omamori serve different purposes: traffic safety, academic success, health, love, and general protection. They should be treated respectfully and returned to a shrine after a year.
The omamori carries the kami's blessing with us wherever we go.
Omamori demonstrate how Shinto blessings extend into everyday life.
