Naam Japna - Meditation on the Divine Name

Constant remembrance and meditation on God's name purifies the mind and connects the soul to its source.

Naam Japna is one of the three pillars of Sikh practice. Through repetition of God's name, the mind becomes still, ego dissolves, and the soul experiences union with the Divine.

The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the Support of all creatures.

Guru Arjan Dev Ji, Guru Granth Sahib, Ang 284

Naam Japna transforms consciousness from ego-centered to God-centered awareness.

Naam Japna is the content that fills that hour, and it is one of the three pillars alongside honest work and sharing. Repetition is the stated mechanism: the mind stills and the ego thins through doing the same thing daily, not through insight.
