Six Paramitas - Transcendent Perfections

The six practices that carry one to the shore of enlightenment.

The Six Paramitas are: generosity (dana), ethical conduct (sila), patience (kshanti), diligence (virya), concentration (dhyana), and wisdom (prajna). These are practiced with bodhicitta motivation.

The perfections are like a boat that carries us across the ocean of suffering to the shore of enlightenment.

Nagarjuna, Letter to a Friend

The paramitas are called 'transcendent' because they are practiced with wisdom of emptiness.
