The Upanishads

Brahman in All Things

The divine presence pervades all of existence.

Brahman is not distant but intimately present in all things. The wise see the same Brahman in a learned brahmin, a cow, an elephant, a dog, and an outcaste.

He who sees all beings in the Self and the Self in all beings never shrinks from anything.

Isha Upanishad, Isha Upanishad 6

This vision transforms our relationship with all of life.

Isha's test is behavioural: one who sees all beings in the Self never shrinks from anything. The same Brahman is to be seen in a learned brahmin, a cow, a dog and an outcaste — which makes this a claim about how you enter a room, not only about how you feel once inside it.
