Videhamukti - Liberation at Death
Final release when the body falls away.
Videhamukti is liberation at the moment of death when the body is dropped for the last time. There is no more rebirth - the sage merges into Brahman.
Having attained Brahman, the sage never returns to this world.
The cycle of rebirth ends with final liberation.

Liberation at death means the sage does not come back. For the bereaved this cuts both ways: the best outcome the tradition can name for your dead is that you will not meet them again in any form you would recognise.
