Transformation and Metamorphosis
How ancestral beings changed form, becoming landforms, animals, or stars.
The Dreaming is filled with transformations - beings becoming rocks, trees, animals, or celestial bodies. These metamorphoses teach that form is temporary while essence is eternal. What appears as a mountain or river is actually an ancestor in transformed state, still alive and powerful.
The ancestors did not die. They changed. They became the land itself.
Transformation narratives explain the living nature of landscape features.

- What Aboriginal tradition says about grief
In the Dreaming the ancestors did not die; they changed form, becoming rock, river and star. The consolation offered is not that the dead survive in memory but that form is temporary while essence is not.
