The Living Voice
The tradition of face-to-face transmission that keeps knowledge alive.
Aboriginal knowledge is meant to be transmitted person to person, voice to voice. This living transmission ensures that knowledge remains connected to relationship, context, and proper authority. Books cannot replace the living voice.
The knowledge lives in people, not in books. When the last person who knows dies without teaching, it dies too.
Oral transmission maintains the living nature of traditional knowledge.

- What Aboriginal tradition says about elders and knowledge
Transmission is meant to happen face to face, so that knowledge stays attached to relationship and proper authority. A written copy is not regarded as an adequate substitute.
