The Purpose of Life
The purpose of life is to know and worship God, and to contribute to an ever-advancing civilization.
Bahá'u'lláh stated the purpose of human existence clearly: to know God and to contribute to the advancement of civilization. These two purposes are inseparable — genuine knowledge of God manifests in service to humanity, and genuine service to humanity is a form of worship. Life's meaning is discovered in this dual orientation.
The purpose of God in creating man hath been, and will ever be, to enable him to know his Creator and to attain His Presence.
The Bahá'í dual purpose of life integrates the contemplative and active dimensions that other traditions often treat as alternatives.
