Bhagavad Gita

The Eternal Abode

Having attained Me, the great souls never return to this temporary world of suffering.

Krishna describes a state of liberation from which there is no return to the cycle of birth and death. This supreme abode is not a geographical location but a state of consciousness—union with the Divine. Reaching it ends all suffering and separation. This promise of permanent liberation motivates the spiritual seeker to persist through all difficulties, knowing the goal is eternal freedom.

From the highest planet in the material world down to the lowest, all are places of misery where repeated birth and death take place. But one who attains My abode never takes birth again.

Lord Krishna, Bhagavad Gita 8.16

This verse motivates seekers to aim for the highest goal—not temporary heavenly pleasures but permanent liberation from all limitation.
