Abiding in Christ
Spiritual vitality flows from continuous, intimate connection with Jesus.
Jesus teaches, 'I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.' Abiding means living in constant conscious connection with Christ—drawing life, guidance, and strength from Him. The branch produces fruit not by effort but by connection. Spiritual disciplines—prayer, Scripture, communion—are means of abiding, not ends in themselves. This teaching emphasizes dependence over independence, receiving over achieving. Fruitfulness is the natural result of intimacy with Christ.
I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
Andrew Murray's classic 'Abide in Christ' teaches that fruitfulness comes not from striving but from staying connected to the Source of life.

- What Christianity says about longing and hope
Jesus uses a vine and its branches. Longing here is not a distance to be crossed but a connection to be kept, and the fruit is described as a result of staying rather than straining.
