Ren - Benevolence
The supreme virtue of humaneness, compassion, and love for humanity.
Ren is the highest Confucian virtue, encompassing benevolence, humaneness, and love. It is caring for others as you care for yourself, recognizing the shared humanity in all people. A person of ren treats others with compassion.
Wishing to establish oneself, one helps others to establish themselves. Wishing to develop oneself, one helps others to develop.
Ren is the foundational virtue from which all others flow.
