Hermeticism

The Cosmos as Divine Order

The universe as a manifestation of divine intelligence.

The cosmos is not random but an ordered expression of divine Mind. Every part reflects the whole; every phenomenon expresses cosmic law. To study nature is to study the thoughts of God.

The cosmos is the second god, and man is the third god.

Corpus Hermeticum, Asclepius

The cosmos as divine order enables natural philosophy as spiritual practice.

  • What Hermeticism says about reverence

The universe is read as ordered mind, so studying nature counts as attention to the divine. The Asclepius puts the cosmos second and the human third after God.
