Salat - The Five Daily Prayers
The establishment of five daily prayers as the direct connection between the servant and Allah.
Salat (الصلاة) is the second pillar of Islam, establishing a rhythmic spiritual discipline throughout the day. The five prayers—Fajr (dawn), Dhuhr (noon), Asr (afternoon), Maghrib (sunset), and Isha (night)—create constant consciousness of Allah. Prayer includes standing, bowing (ruku), and prostration (sujud), symbolizing complete submission. The Prophet (PBUH) said that prayer is the 'coolness of his eyes' and the pillar of religion. Each prayer is performed facing the qibla, the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca, toward which Muslims worldwide turn.
Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater.
Ibn Arabi explained that each prayer corresponds to a divine attribute and a stage of spiritual ascent, making the daily cycle of prayers a complete spiritual journey.
