Wudu - Ritual Purification

The ablution performed before prayer that purifies both body and soul for standing before Allah.

Wudu (الوضوء) is the ritual washing of hands, face, arms, head, and feet before prayer. Beyond physical cleanliness, wudu is a spiritual preparation, washing away minor sins with each part of the body cleansed. The Prophet (PBUH) said that when a believer washes their face, every sin from their gaze falls away with the water. Wudu creates a transition from worldly activities to sacred worship, a threshold between the profane and the holy. The requirement to maintain wudu develops constant awareness of one's spiritual state and bodily discipline.

O you who believe, when you rise to prayer, wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows and wipe over your heads and your feet to the ankles.

Quran, Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:6

The scholars taught that wudu is like opening a door to Allah—the physical cleansing symbolizes the purification of the heart needed to stand in divine presence.
