Al-Malik - The Sovereign Lord
Understanding Allah's absolute ownership and authority over all creation.
Al-Malik (الملك) signifies Allah's absolute sovereignty and ownership over everything. He is the true King whose kingdom encompasses all realms, seen and unseen. Unlike earthly rulers whose authority is limited and temporary, Al-Malik's dominion is complete and eternal. The Quran declares: 'To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and earth.' Understanding this attribute puts human authority in perspective—all power derives from and returns to Him. It teaches humility to the powerful and hope to the powerless, for the true King sees all and judges justly.
Exalted is Allah, the True King. There is no deity except Him, Lord of the Noble Throne.
Al-Ghazali taught that recognizing Al-Malik's sovereignty liberates us from fear of creation and creates courage to speak truth to earthly power.
