Al-Hakam - The Judge
Understanding Allah as the ultimate judge who decides with perfect wisdom and justice.
Al-Hakam (الحكم) designates Allah as the supreme judge whose verdicts are final and whose judgment is perfect. He judges between creation with complete knowledge, wisdom, and justice. No appeal beyond His judgment exists, and no injustice can occur in His court. This attribute provides comfort when worldly justice fails—the oppressed will be vindicated, and oppressors held accountable. It also inspires careful living, knowing that every action will be judged. The Prophet (PBUH) said Allah's judgment comes after perfect knowledge of circumstances, intentions, and capabilities.
Is not Allah the most just of judges?
Ali ibn Abi Talib said: 'If you cannot find justice in this world, know that perfect justice awaits with Al-Hakam, who lets no deed go unweighed.'

- What Islam says about justice
Justice is one of the names by which God is known, not only a rule for people. That grounds the human duty in something other than social agreement.
- What Islam says about forgiveness
For a wrong you cannot forgive and cannot get remedied, Islam offers not release but a venue. Al-Hakam is the judge whose verdict is final and who is said to judge with full knowledge of circumstance, intention and capability. That is cold comfort, and the tradition is honest that it is deferred.
