Al-Wadud - The Loving One
Understanding Allah's love for His righteous servants and His desire for good for all creation.
Al-Wadud (الودود) means the Most Loving—Allah who loves His believing servants and inspires love in their hearts for Him. His love is not like human love; it is the source of all love and the reason love exists in creation. The Quran mentions that Allah 'will bring forth a people He will love and who will love Him.' Seeking Allah's love motivates righteous action more powerfully than fear alone. Understanding Al-Wadud transforms worship from obligation to intimate connection, duty to delight.
And He is the Forgiving, the Loving.
Rumi wrote extensively on divine love, teaching that all love in creation is a reflection of Al-Wadud's love—the Beloved who first loved us into existence.
