The Thirteen Lords of the Day
The thirteen deities who govern the daylight hours and heavenly influences.
Thirteen lords rule the day and the thirteen levels of the heavens. Their rotation through the calendar creates patterns of influence that affect human activities. The interplay between the thirteen of day and nine of night creates the 260-day sacred calendar.
Thirteen is the number of the day, the number of the sky levels.
The Thirteen Lords complemented the Nine, creating the complex Mayan calendar system.
