Blot - Sacred Sacrifice
Blot was the central Norse ritual of sacrifice, maintaining the bond between gods, ancestors, and humans.
Blot involved offering sacrifices - typically animals - to gods or ancestors. The blood was sprinkled on altar, images, and participants; the meat was shared in a sacred feast. Blot maintained the reciprocal relationship between divine and human realms.
In blot we give to the gods, and they give to us; thus the sacred cycle turns.
Blot was the primary ritual act of Norse religion.
