Choosing the Right Moment
Wisdom includes knowing when to act, when to speak, and when to remain silent; timing is part of virtue.
Stoic practical wisdom includes kairos — knowing the right moment. Rushing a conversation before the other person is ready, or acting before circumstances are appropriate, wastes effort. Patient observation of the right moment is part of the discipline of action and an expression of wisdom.
To be everywhere is to be nowhere.
Stoic kairos ethics parallels Chinese strategic timing wisdom and modern concepts of emotional intelligence and situational awareness.
