Light of the World
Believers are called to shine God's light through good works that glorify the Father.
Jesus declares his followers the light of the world—a profound identity statement connecting them to himself, who is the true light. A lamp is not lit to be hidden but to illuminate the entire house. Good works are not for personal glory but to point others toward the Father. This teaching balances the call to humility with visible, public witness. Jesus supplies the purpose clause himself — the works are seen “that they may glorify your Father” (Matthew 5:16), not the doer. Light exposes darkness but also guides, warms, and brings life.
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
C.S. Lewis observed that Christians are 'little Christs,' reflecting the true Light into the world's darkness through transformed lives.
