New Heavens and New Earth
God will restore and renew all creation, making everything new in the final redemption.
John's vision concludes with 'a new heaven and a new earth,' where God dwells with humanity, wiping away every tear, eliminating death and pain. This is not escape from creation but its renewal and perfection. The groaning creation will be liberated; matter will be redeemed, not discarded. This hope motivates faithful living now—what we do matters eternally. The new creation is not wholly different but continuous with this creation, purified and transformed. Christians await not destruction of the world but its glorious restoration.
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away.
N.T. Wright emphasizes that 'God's plan is not to rescue humans from the world but to rescue the world from its decay' through cosmic renewal.

- What Christianity says about longing and hope
The vision at the end of Revelation is a renewed heaven and earth, not an escape from either. Matter is kept and repaired rather than discarded.
