Equality Before Allah

The fundamental equality of all human beings, distinguished only by piety and righteous deeds.

Islam teaches radical equality before Allah—no race, nationality, or lineage grants superiority. The Quran declares: 'O mankind, We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous.' In his farewell sermon, the Prophet (PBUH) declared that an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab except by piety. The Hajj demonstrates this equality as pilgrims of all backgrounds stand together in identical white garments before their Creator.

O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous.

Quran, Surah Al-Hujurat 49:13

Malcolm X was transformed by experiencing Hajj's equality firsthand—seeing Muslims of all colors and backgrounds as brothers changed his entire worldview.
