The Best of People

The teaching that the best people are those most beneficial to others.

The Prophet (PBUH) said: 'The best of people are those who are most beneficial to others.' This hadith defines excellence not by wealth, knowledge, or worship alone, but by service to creation. Benefit to others includes teaching, charity, guidance, protection, and any form of help. The Prophet exemplified this through his constant service to his community. This teaching aligns personal success with social contribution and redirects ambition toward collective good. A life of benefit to others becomes the measure of a life well-lived.

The best of people are those who are most beneficial to others.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, Hadith 5787

Ali ibn Abi Talib said: 'People are of two types: either your brother in faith or your equal in humanity'—both deserve your benefit and service.

The best people are the most useful to others. It is a plain standard, and it does not mention piety, learning or reputation.
