Du'a - Supplication to Allah
The personal prayer and supplication that is the essence of worship and connection.
Du'a (الدعاء) is supplication and personal prayer—calling upon Allah for needs, guidance, protection, or expressing gratitude. The Prophet (PBUH) said: 'Du'a is the essence of worship.' Unlike ritual prayer with prescribed forms, du'a can be made anytime, anywhere, in any language. Allah is near and responds to those who call. The Quran promises: 'When My servants ask about Me—I am near. I respond to the supplication of the supplicant when he calls upon Me.' Du'a expresses dependence on Allah and maintains constant connection with Him.
And when My servants ask you concerning Me, indeed I am near. I respond to the supplication of the supplicant when he calls upon Me.
Ibn Qayyim wrote that du'a is the weapon of the believer—it changes decree, brings provision, and creates connection with Allah that is available to all.

- What Islam says about patience
Patience in Islam is not silent. Du'a needs no prescribed form, hour or language, and the verse answering where God is — 'I am near' — sits among the verses on fasting, in the middle of a hardship people were being asked to bear. You are allowed to complain upward.
