Kukulkan - The Feathered Serpent
The plumed serpent deity representing the union of earth and sky.
Kukulkan (known as Quetzalcoatl in Central Mexico) is the feathered serpent who bridges earth and heaven. Combining bird (sky) and serpent (earth), he represents wisdom, wind, and the morning star. At the spring and fall equinoxes, his shadow descends the pyramid at Chichen Itza.
The feathered serpent unites what flies with what crawls, heaven with earth.
Kukulkan symbolizes the Mayan perception of fundamental cosmic unity.
