Practical Wisdom (Phronesis)
Practical wisdom is the knowledge of what is truly good, bad, and indifferent, and the ability to act appropriately in every situation.
Phronesis is not mere intellectual cleverness but the capacity to navigate life's complexities with sound judgment. It involves correctly identifying what matters (virtue) and what does not (externals), then acting accordingly. It is the master virtue from which the others flow.
The first and greatest task of the philosopher is to test and separate appearances.
Practical wisdom in Stoicism is both epistemological and ethical, requiring training perception itself.
